A complete ready to grow mushroom kit all you add is water. This kit is ready to start and can only be held at room temperature for a few days or it will start growing mushrooms inside the box before it is opened. Therefore start your shiitake kit as soon as you get it for best results or refrigerate it below 42 degrees F to delay starting it.
Shiitake kits need to be started upon arrival or the kit will start growing shiitakes inside it's incubation bag. Open and start the kit as close to the start date as possible for best results.

We are making our Shiitake kits with a new strain of shiitake. It is more productive and reliable than older strains we used in the pass. You should notice the difference in the color, taste and productivity. You should start this kit in a timely manor for long delays may result in the shiitakes fruiting inside the box before it is opened. Shiitake mushrooms are one of the tastiest mushrooms grown. It has a wonderful earthy flavor, which is why it is desired as an expensive good edible. Grows approximately 1-1/4 pounds of shiitakes Keep the shiitake block moist to maximize production.

Shiitake Mushroom Kit
Shiitake mushrooms are one of the tastiest mushrooms grown. It has a wonderful mild earthy flavor, which is why it is desired as a good edible. Our mushrooms are grown on a compressed sawdust block, which allows us to make the blocks uniform in size and easy to handle. They tend to fruit best during the cooler time of the growing season. They will fruit at temperatures between 55 to 70 degrees F. The best fruiting temperature range is usually 65 degrees F. Mushrooms vary in size from large to small during the fruiting cycle. The largest mushrooms are usually grown during the first or second crop. Smaller mushrooms grow later as the mushroom block loose nutrients. The block can grow up to 2 crops of mushrooms, but usually 1 crops is normal. Our kits are ready to grow upon arrival and should be started immediately or within days of arrival. If they are not started right away they may attempt to fruit inside of the box, before it is opened. To prevent this refrigerating them below 45 degrees this will usually slow them from fruiting, but do not freeze the block. All mushroom kits can to some degree attract small fungus gnats this is normal. Shipping charges are calculated at time of check out. Our mushroom kit is intended to allow the average individual the
experience of growing there own mushrooms at home, and is not intended

Fruiting Time: Mushrooms grown at 65 degrees F will be ready to harvest in 7 - 8 days after setup. Shiitake kits are ready to grow upon arrival. For best results start you shiitake block immediately upon arrival.
Best Temperature for Growing: 63 - 66 degrees Fahrenheit
Harvest: The first harvest is 90 % of the mushrooms, a 2nd fruiting can occur but it is very slow and few mushrooms grow. Grows up to 1 lbs of mushrooms total on the first fruiting.
